Mamie Thompson is an alumnus of the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts. She and her late husband, David Daniel, were among some of the first students to walk the halls of Louisiana's only residential high school for the academically and artistically gifted and talented. They were members of its second graduating class.
Mamie earned her BS in dietetics from Nicholls State University, along the bayous of South Louisiana. She earned her MS in nutritional sciences from the University of Oklahoma's Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City and is a registered and licensed dietitian.
A dynamic speaker, Mamie found her voice among Christian women by sharing the lessons God taught her through David's illness and death. After several years of sharing her experience and insight, Mamie was inspired to pen a novel about her journey through the valley of the shadow and back into the light as she fell in love once again. She and her husband, Richard, are the main characters in her first novel, Finally Time to Dance , available from AuthorHouse.
Mamie uses her sense of humor to teach practical lessons through non-fiction writing. As a dietitian and homeschooling mother of five, Mamie provides her readers with a unique point of view when she writes for Christian living and home education magazines.
